"STRAYS are comprised of Denton locals Ben Scott, (TERMINATOR 2) Spencer Jones (MINK COATS) and Ben Copeland (ABACABA, MOTHER TONGUES). The trio released two EP’s independently - Smoker (2017) and Ritual (2018) - before partnering with Triptych Records in 2019, releasing their debut full-length album TIME DEATH VOID DREAM April of that year. TIME DEATH VOID DREAM constructs a narrative imagining a conceptual alternate world in which Native Americans defeat invading colonizers with relentless brutality. Informed by the harsh tones, colors and especially characters of Cormac McCarthy’s novel Blood Meridian, the album undergoes chronological thematic and sonic changes following the protagonist’s journey through scenes of dark magic, horrible violence and out-of-body experiences. STRAYS remain a part of the ideological landscape and world shared by all people, and are eager to release new works in that spirit. The trio holds strong anti-police sentiments and seek to inject their music and listeners with a visceral experience of their own specific brand of genre, riffualistic stoned psych.
